Honoring Veterans Day 2018
In 2018, amidst so much political turmoil and tension, it’s easy to feel that the United States is not as united as it should be. There are very few occasions on which we as Americans can truly feel that we are one united people. Veterans Day is one of those few days in the year when all Americans stand united. We stand united in pride and gratitude for the finest men and women amongst us; America’s military veterans. From the deserts of the Middle East and the jungles of Southeast Asia, to the remotest corners of the high-seas, America’s veterans have demonstrated what truly makes our nation great.
Today, November 11, 2018 is Veterans Day, and all Americans regardless of party or political ideology stand united in saluting the brave men and women who have given themselves so completely to us as a nation.
It’s unfortunate that Americans can agree on so little these days, which is what makes Veterans Day so important to our nation. No matter where we come from, where we pray or who we voted for, America’s veterans have served all of us and we all owe them our respect, gratitude and support. Fortunately, that is one issue the vast majority of Americans can agree on.
To the brave veterans of the ongoing War on Terror, we thank you. To the brave men and women who fought in Desert Storm, we thank you. To the courageous men who experienced the horrors of Vietnam, we thank you. To the veterans of the brutal Korean War, we thank you. To the Greatest Generation who saved the world from fascism and tyranny in the Second World War, we thank you.
