New Survey Shows Healthcare top concern for Veterans
RICHMOND, VA– A new poll of Veterans Action Network supporters shows that Veterans healthcare is still on top of the list of concerns regarding military Veterans in the US.
Earlier this month, Veterans Action Network, a grassroots political advocacy nonprofit, conducted a poll of its members and supporters with the intent of determining which Veterans Affairs issues matter most to them. Over half of our members are Veterans themselves and their voices must be heard and taken into account when determining political and policy direction.
Veterans Action Network operates under the guidance of our grassroots members, true patriots and supporters of America’s Veterans. Identifying the top issues that supporters of American Veterans consider of the utmost importance allows us to effectively fight for solutions to these very real problems.
The poll concluded that 81% of respondents believe that Veterans’ health care, including access to mental health care facilities, is the most pressing issue still facing America’s heroes. Further, most respondents approve of President Donald Trump’s new efforts to use technology to improve veterans health care, with 54% of respondents saying it’s a good start to solving the healthcare crisis facing American Veterans. The plan, introduced by Trump, includes mental health care and suicide prevention programs, which aim to greatly improve the standard of health care that Veterans currently face. According to the President, “This will significantly expand access to care for our Veterans, especially for those who need help in mental health, which is a bigger and bigger request, and also in suicide prevention”. As our poll shows, our members agree this is a step in the right direction.
Finally, 70% of respondents also believe that VA officials must be held accountable for mismanagement of the VA, officials that these respondents presumably believe have not been sufficiently condemned and punished for their actions.
This poll, conducted June 15 – 22, 2017, will help shape our plan of attack as the organization gathers steam for the 2018 election season.
We encourage all who revere America’s Veterans to join the Veterans Action Network today and join our ranks in the fight for Veterans’ rights.
